"This house by Max May is in a tradition of rational architecture. The plan is carefully orientated to let in winter and exclude summer sun. The more public spaces are airy and spacious, the more private spaces are screened and enclosed. The choreography of the various probably movements of people is delightfully resolved, with a formal entry path through the front door leading guests towards the sitting areas; with a private entry way for those returning home in the car, possibly with shopping, and the bathrooms are designed to allow people to come in from the garden and the beach and shower before they get into the house proper. Elegant, economic, no one should settle for less!"
