Max May worked as a sole practioner from the final years of study through to 1973. In this time he completed several buildings of good standing. In 1974 Max was awarded the Royal Australian Institute of Architects; Victorian Chapter Medal for House of the Year for what was known as the Rattle House, Rowallan Road, Harkaway.
Architects Group was then formed in 1973, and consisted of four main members being Osric Spence, Kevin Borland, Phillip Cohen and Max May. Architects Group was in operation through to 1977.
Max May Pty Ltd Architects has been in operation since 1977.
